This research project, led by a community researcher with lived experience of homelessness and mental health challenges, in collaboration with Justlife, academics, and an art therapist, explores the links between women’s mental health and the transition from homelessness into stable accommodation.
Inside, you will find honest, first-hand accounts from seven women and non-binary participants (assigned female at birth) who took part in creative ‘River of Life’ sessions. They share personal stories, reflect on the challenges of homelessness and mental health, and highlight the strategies and services that have made a meaningful difference, offering lessons for organisations and an opportunity for people with lived experience to learn about helpful support services available in Brighton and Hove.
