Our 2020 report, Hidden Homelessness Exposed, interviewed people who were living in Temporary Accommodation during the COVID-19 lockdown and found that 35% of our research group had a disability. The national figure for people living with disabilities is around 20%, indicating that disability is overrepresented among people experiencing homelessness.
One person had been stuck in their room for six years due to their disability; another was unable to reach the shower room on a different floor as he was "wheelchair bound" in a multi-storey building without a lift.
