The Ansvar Community Hub

Charities are operating in unprecedented times. Demand for services is rising due to the cost-of-living crisis. Government funding is being cut. Donations are declining. At the same time, operational costs are increasing. Organisations are being asked to do more with less. Recognising these pressures, Ansvar made it a priority during its 2024 head office move to Brighton to secure space large enough to support more than just its own team. In March 2024, it launched the Ansvar Community Hub.

A space designed for charities

The vision was simple: a dedicated hub where charities can connect, collaborate, share knowledge and build stronger communities. The Hub is more than a free workspace. It’s a vibrant, fully accessible space where charity staff and volunteers can:

  • Hot-desk
  • Meet and collaborate
  • Deliver training
  • Host events
  • Network and build partnerships

Free training shaped by charities

Training is vital for growth, but often out of reach due to cost. Ansvar hosts free quarterly sessions on topics chosen by charities themselves, including fundraising, risk management and impact measurement. These hybrid events provide practical tools and create valuable opportunities for connection across the sector. When the Hub first launched, some charities were understandably sceptical about why a corporate organisation would offer such a facility for free. Through social media, sector press coverage and a well-attended launch event, trust grew. Today, the Hub is thriving and helping strengthen the local charity sector. For Ansvar, it has also deepened relationships with the organisations it serves. Charities openly share what they need, how their challenges are evolving and what support would help them most.

Taking on the Dirty Rotten Scramble Race

Ansvar’s support for Justlife extends beyond the workspace and networking. In 2024, teams from Ansvar Insurance UK and Chris Knott Insurance (one of their brokers) took on the Dirty Rotten Scramble Race in aid of Justlife.

Gruelling? Yes.
Fun? Absolutely.
Injuries? Zero (thankfully!).

🙌 Together they raised just under £2,000. This will fund 18 of our Move-In Packs, supporting people as they settle into temporary accommodation. Households entering temporary accommodation often arrive with very little — sometimes just a single bag — and are placed into unfurnished rooms. A Justlife Move-In Pack provides:

  • Clean bedding for that first night
  • A kettle for that first cup of tea
  • Cutlery and basic cooking equipment
  • A radio and small homely touches

It’s more than practical items. It’s about dignity, stability and the chance to start again.
