Numbers at the Brighton drop-in sessions have reached a record high. Last week the Justlife team welcomed up to 46 guests in just one session! It doesn't seem so long ago that we had just four people sitting at the table. So, why have numbers increased? Firstly, Justlife is more established now and through other agencies spreading the word, as well as the single homeless tenants of unsupported temporary accommodation, more people have found out about how Justlife can support them. But that is not the full picture. The numbers are reflective of a growing homelessness problem in Brighton and we expect number to rise over the summer months. Most guests who attend the drop-ins are non-statutory single homeless people living in emergency accommodation. The drop-in provides an opportunity for people to connect with JL workers and with other services which may be able to help; mental health services, dentistry, community health workers, and occupational therapists have been amongst recent visitors. Food is provided by the Real Junk Food Project who intercept food waste and prepare incredible cuisine for everyone.
