Moving accommodation regularly can be very disruptive and unsettling. In Manchester we've recently supported a client to move out of B&B accommodation and into his own home. He was initially quite anxious about this move because he had lived in local area near the B&B for a long time and had developed many health problems due to drug use.
Since moving, his health has improved, he hasn’t taken any drugs and he has been able to make new friends and join in with local social activities. He has a brilliant drugs worker who is very supportive and positive about the progress that he is making. Last week, he came into Manchester's Centre to let us know that he also now has a part-time cleaning job. It took less than a month to go from jobless and living in poor unsupported temporary accommodation to working while living in his own secure home. Amazing.
