Make and Mend

For the past few months Kate at Justlife has been running some brilliant Make and Mend sessions. These sessions are all about upcycling, re-using and repairing old items that you might normally throw away to give them a new lease of life. The group have upcycled furniture, painting old chairs to make them really fun and bright again and most recently the group created hanging pot plants out of old tin cans! The service users were able to take them home to decorate their windowsills or give away to friends.One participant said: ‘It’s really nice to have something to put on the windowsill and make the place feel more like home’.It’s so good to be able to turn rubbish into useful items or even decorative ornaments, to make something great out of almost nothing is such a great skill to have! We have a few more Make and Mend sessions but then after that we hope that it inspires people to make, re-use and upcycle things on their own with their new skills.
