The grant is part of a national programme funded by the Department for Communities and Local Government, with the aim of helping homeless people find stable rented accommodation. This year, Justlife at Home is also being funded by Tudor Trust, Surich Community Trust, Persula Foundation and the Steinberg Family Charitable Trust
Since opening in 2008 Justlife has helped rehouse more than 220 homeless and vulnerable adults. This includes 53 people into private rented sector housing, through Justlife at Home since the project started in April 2012.
Justlife at Home recruits and supports good landlords, matching them to potential homeless tenants. The tenants are prepared and supported as they move in and for the first 6 months of their tenancy.
The Crisis Private Renting Programme supports local housing projects across England. So far it has helped more than 8,000 people find lasting homes and aims to have helped more than 10,000 by 2016.
Leslie Morphy, chief executive of Crisis, said: “We know that private renting has the potential to provide decent and stable homes for homeless people. But many will struggle to do this on their own. The projects that Crisis supports are crucial. They help vulnerable people to find suitable, lasting tenancies whilst setting the standards for others to follow.”
