team6Justlife Foundation has been awarded a three-year Reaching Communities grant from the Big Lottery Fund, securing the services at the Justlife Health and Enterprise Centre in east Manchester until January 2017.The grant of £430,373 will enable Justlife to continue running the day centre which reaches some of the most vulnerable and hard-to-reach people in the city. Since opening in March 2010 the centre has helped 465 people and has around 400 visits every month.Justlife Foundation is a charity which supports adults who are homeless, vulnerably housed or living in temporary accommodation. The organisation started 5 years ago when a small group of Manchester residents started a pilot project providing a weekly meal to people living in emergency accommodation. In 2011 the charitable foundation was formed and the success of the initial pilot led to the opening of our Health and Enterprise Centre in Openshaw, East Manchester. This Centre is open 5 days a week and works with a wide range of partners to provide advice services to vulnerable adults. Alongside the Justlife Centre we run a range of other services for the homeless and vulnerably housed in Manchester and Brighton.Gary Bishop, Founder and Director of Justlife, said: “This is a great opportunity for us to build on the experiences of the last 5 years working closely with single homeless people to help them gain access to housing, healthcare, employment and development opportunities. Demand at the centre has been growing over the last 12 months and I am absolutely delighted that whenever a person arrives in temporary accommodation in East Manchester Justlife will be there to help."Caroline James, Big Lottery Fund spokesperson, said: “Our Reaching Communities programme is there to enable organisations to provide life-changing support for people who really need it. The projects we support through the programme are extremely diverse but all of them help people to realise their own potential, gain independence and lead happier and more fulfilled lives."
