Justlife at Home is pleased to house Ben, who has been homeless for more than 7 years.Ben first came to Justlife as a referral from Jobcentre Plus to get support in looking for employment, but we quickly established that he was also in need of finding a home. He had spent the last 7 years in and out of prison, sofa surfing and staying in homeless hostels. Currently sofa-surfing he needed to move on quickly. He had also battled mental health issues and a heroin addiction.With such a complex background, a stable home is important to keep Ben moving forward and not falling back. Nigel, the Justlife at Home scheme manager, worked with Ben for around 6 weeks to find a suitable home, matching tenant with private sector landlord. Ben was chuffed with his new place which is just around the corner from his kids and their school, meaning that they can come and spend time with him really easily.Justlife is continuing to work with Ben, supporting him in his new tenancy as well as helping him move towards employment through the Jobclub and one2one appointments.We wish Ben the very best in his new home.
