jlbrightonchristmasThis month we hit a great milestone for Justlife Brighton when our 100th guest came on a Tuesday to join us for lunch. Approximately half of these live in B&B accommodation, others are sofa surfing or street homeless.
I don't think any of us thought we would have so many people engage with the service so quickly and it is a credit to the great team of volunteers we who set up, pack down and make everyone feel so welcome and the cooks who dish up lovely food. Here's to the next 100 guests!
In 2012/13 Brighton & Hove City Council placed 1621 people in 373 units of B&B/guesthouse accommodation. Anecdotally, we know that some individuals who were moved from rough sleeping into guesthouse accommodation returned to rough sleeping after one or two nights because they felt safer on the streets than in the accommodation.Pic: The Justlife Brighton Christmas meal in December 2012.
