rhiannaMy name is Rhianna* and I am 40 years old. I moved into Gransmoor Avenue 18 months ago. Gransmoor Avenue is notorious for violence, drug addicts and drug dealers. There are 5 houses that are bedsits. I had a heroin and crack habit which got worse with the surroundings I lived in. I lived in fear and depression that sent my drug habit sky high.I heard about a charity called Justlife which was down the road from me. They served meals twice a week, which I went to. I met Matt the project worker. Matt worked with me and took time out to talk to me and let me know that I am not on my own and offered me help and advice if I wanted it. At the time I was in a drug haze and was taking drugs all day long to block out how low I was at the time. I felt like the poisoned people at Gransmoor were kicking me while I was down. I was scared every night as there was fighting and arguing all the time.I finally had enough. I thought I was going to leave Gransmoor in a box.I turned to Matt as I couldn't take it anymore. He sat me down and told me that he could get me out of there. Within a week he got me into Victoria House.I have weekly support sessions with Matt now and I have my own supported flat at Victoria House. I am doing an IT course and my life has totally changed. I enjoy waking up every morning. If it wasn't for Justlife I would be dead. I owe Matt and Justlife my life. He took the time and patience and care that I needed. He believed in me.I have been drug free for 4 months now and although my life is hard, I know that I have got Matt and Justlife to support me.(*Name changed to protect identity of client and photo is Justlife stock image)
