Over recent months Matt, project worker based at the Openshaw centre, has been working closely with several Justlife service users. Meeting regularly they have been working together to tackle issues.Matt said, "It has been great working with people one-to-one to battle issues that have been preventing them from making progress for sometimes years. Today I met with a guy who I have been meeting weekly with for around 6 weeks. Yesterday was his pay day (when he gets his benefits) and it was the first pay day that he hasn't 'used' in 13 months. Instead, he chose to come to the Justlife drop in. Today he didn't 'use' either, instead choosing to come to Justlife for a one-to-one and join a group in the afternoon for the cooking workshop.I have been working closely with this particular person to make sure we have the right approach in tackling his addictions. Instead of putting in him rehab far away, he has decided to tackle his addictions in context, where he is now, with our support and the support of other organisations."
