On Wednesday 12th December Beswick Library opened a new art exhibition of work by service users from Justlife. The artwork was created by various individuals during the drop-ins and art workshops. Many of these people wouldn’t consider themselves to be artists and yet with the support and encouragement of Social Care Student Toni and the Justlife Team, they have created some stunning and poignant work which they (and we) are very proud of.The work includes two large mosaics, pencil sketches, canvas paintings, graffiti, collage and poetry. Using art as a form of expression has been helpful for many to record, discuss and share emotions and experiences. One service user wrote on a canvas a letter to her partner who died in tragic circumstances a few years ago. These words moved the librarian to tears at the launch, and others were impacted by the thoughts, creations and drawings on display. The artists were all excited to receive a gift of a sketch pad and art materials as a gift to continue their artistic journey.
