Volunteer recruitment is ongoing and interviews are arranged following enquiries.
What is the Social Connection Befriending Scheme?
Through befriending relationships, the Social Connection Project supports people moving away from homelessness in overcoming social barriers, isolation and loneliness. Volunteers are matched with people who have experienced homelessness and they do a variety of activities together such as going for a walk, going for coffee, or accompanying them to an event - anything you both fancy!
What we’re looking for in a volunteer
We’re looking for volunteers who are non-judgemental, reliable, patient and flexible. The project is flexible but we expect you to meet up or have phone contact once aweek for a minimum of 6 months.
Volunteer support
There will be a loose pathway to follow that you will develop alongside our friendly Project Coordinator, Si, and the person you are matched with. All volunteers will be trained and can access support via a monthly 1-1 supervision with Si and regular peer support meetings.
