In May of this year I found myself homeless…

aloneIn May of this year I found myself homeless after the break up of my 18 year marriage. I was sent, by Shelter, to live in Gransmoor Avenue, Openshaw. I had never lived in this area before and I did not know anyone. I had no idea what would happen to me.

I don’t have anything good to say about my time at Gransmoor Avenue, so I won’t say anything.

Soon after moving in their, I found out about the Justlife centre. Since the very first day I went in there, to now, 6 months on, I have always been welcomed there by all the staff. In the past I have been a very heavy drinker, and if it wasn’t for the help that I received from the staff at Justlife, I am surethat I would have taken to the drink again.

Matt, who works at Justlife, has been a great help to me. He has always been there when I have needed someone to talk to, no matter what it was about. He helped me get out of Gransmoor Avenue and into Council temporary housing, which is like a palace compared to Gransmoor Avenue. In the last week I have now been given my own one bed flat back where I came from just 6 months ago, in South Manchester. Once again, Justlife helped me to get this.

My three children live not far from my new flat and it makes them so happy to know that their Dada is not far away from them now.

Justlife has shown me that if I am willing to receive help, that there are people like Matt and the team that give you all the help that you need.

Whatever happens for the rest of my life, which is looking quite good at the moment, I will always be grateful to Justlife’s help and I hope that they carry on for a long time doing their great work.
