Going potty for pottery

image_3Justlife has teamed up with Manchester Ceramics Enterprise to deliver a series of four weekly pottery workshops at the Health & Enterprise Centre.

In this week’s session participants made beautiful flat dishes with imprints of leaves. The dishes will be fired and glazed over the next few weeks, giving them a professional finish. Everyone was really proud of what they achieved and is looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Manchester Ceramics Enterprise is a social enterprise that trains homeless people in ceramic production and related skills in order to make and sell art based ceramic products made to a professional standard. They encourage participants to take part in all aspects of the business, helping to support them into education, employment and independence.

Wendy Andrew is teaching the sessions. Wendy has been teaching pottery for twelve years and has taught schools, youth groups, community groups, companies, the general public, in college, at Manchester Art Gallery and in the homeless sector.
