Rob came out of prison in 2009 and found a place to stay in a local B&B. He had been in and out of homelessness, prison and sofa surfing with friends and family over the past 25 years including 14 years in prison.
Rob originally connected with Justlife in 2011 at the drop in meals where he began to build relationships with project workers. Rob started coming to the Justlife Jobclub in June 2012. He had a very sketchy employment history with only a couple of months in two jobs.
We worked with Rob to build a CV and ready himself for work. We helped Rob apply for a work placement with Carillion (construction) which he completed successfully in November 2012.
With this experience under his belt Rob continued to look for work with our support and guidance. We invested time in creating links with local employers to create job opportunities for clients and consequently Rob was offered a job working in construction.
Alongside this, the Jobclub Coordinator was able to refer Rob to the Justlife at Home scheme, helping homeless people into their own private rented sector homes. Rob was rehoused on this scheme and has managed his own tenancy for 12 months, his most successful tenancy ever. We have also been able to find crucial support for Rob for his debt problems and substance misuse.
