Prison leavers: Outreach and centre-based support

78% of the people experiencing homelessness we support in Manchester improved their physical and mental health

Our minibus visits temporary accommodation properties across Greater Manchester, so residents can access support on their doorsteps and at the Justlife Centre. Both offer TA residents on-the-spot housing/benefits advice, support with tenancy issues and help to access longer-term support to address their physical and mental health. We also provide emergency food and toiletry parcels, wellbeing supplies and tenant information packs. At the Justlife Centre, we offer social and wellbeing activities, as well as on the spot advice to people experiencing homelessness who knock on our doors.

I’ve come out of that black hole. It’s down to you. [Without support] you have to go round in circles. I would still be stuck in the same position without you. Your support is priceless

Support for people who leave prison homeless

We also provide support for prison leavers as they move into temporary accommodation, throughout their stay, and as they move on to longer-term accommodation. Support includes developing life skills like setting up bank accounts and managing finances, registering with health services, avoiding eviction, applying for suitable housing and supporting people to settle into their new property.

Justlife has been a very understanding ear and a source of wise counsel to whom I was always sure I could turn to in need. I am most grateful to Justlife for this help on my journey from prison to a life of quiet peace in the community
